The last time these two teams met was on Nov. 20, 2021, at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Aidan O'Connell threw three touchdown passes to wide receiver Milton Wright, who led the team with eight catches for 213 yards receiving, in a win. The Boilermakers never trailed and scored on their first two possessions in the second half. College football historian Parke H. After much debate, it was decided to build a locomotive on an automobile chassis. This choice allowed the mascot to build on Purdue's engineering and railroading heritage, as well as represent the school's nickname "Boilermakers" in a meaningful way. It is named for David E. Ross and George Ade, the principal benefactors. Ross–Ade Stadium opened on November 22, 1924, with a seating capacity of 13,500 and standing room for an additional 5,000 people. A series of additions and renovations pushed the seating capacity to almost 68,000 .

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue football, among four teams tied atop the Big Ten West, looks to take care of business in the final two games of the regular season to have a chance to play for a conference championship. Purdue (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) enters this week as a 19.5-point favorite in a matchup against Northwestern (1-9, 1-6).
Similarly, Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell has stayed in Ames longer than most people expected, and coming off a 4-8 season, his window for a major job may be closing. He’s an Ohio native who played at Mount Union and had coached only in Ohio from 2003 to 2015 before leaving for Iowa State. He’s done a remarkable job with the Cyclones, achieving the highest level of sustained success in more than a century. He went 9-3 in 2020 with a Fiesta Bowl win and beat Oklahoma multiple times. If he feels he’s hit a ceiling and wants to get into the Big Ten, perhaps Purdue could be a fit.
Will Purdue stick with the offensive head coach?
"They have the capability to win football games, and I think they understand that," Brohm said of Northwestern. "Just like on every football team, it takes all three segments. So the defense has to play well, the offense has to play well, special teams do. And if you don't have all three, you're not going to win in this conference. Purdue has knocked off the No. 1 ranked football team in college football seven times over the years—the third most of all the Division I teams in college football.

Army head coachJeff Monken is in nine years, with four seasons of at least nine wins after taking over a program that had one winning season in the previous 17 years. The Illinois native was a finalist for the Illinois job last year and his name has popped up around a few jobs. Army is 5-6 this season and won’t go to a bowl game even at 6-6, but it’s still a strong track record. Monken has tried to emphasize that he doesn’t have to run the triple-option offense at another school amid concerns that it has held him back from getting a bigger job.

He stayed in that job until 1982, when he unexpectedly resigned citing "personal reasons". In 1890, Clinton L. Hare became the third head football coach at Purdue. Purdue won each of its two home games in convincing fashion, shutting out Wabash, 54–0, on October 24 and Illinois, 62–0, on November 22. Purdue suffered its worst loss of the season on November 1 in Ann Arbor, falling to Michigan by a score of 34–6. Hare's squad also dropped their season opener in Chicago on October 18 to the Chicago University Football Club, 10–6, and their season finale on November 27 against Hare's former team, Butler, by a score of 12–10.

Of those successful campaigns, Purdue has produced five unbeaten seasons in its history, going 4–0 in 1891, 8–0 in 1892, 8–0 in 1929, 7–0–1 in 1932 and 9–0 in 1943. The Boilermakers have won a total of 12 conference championships in their history; eight Big Ten Conference titles; four Indiana Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles and one Big Ten West Division title. Syracuse head coach Dino Babers coached at Purdue from 1991 to 1993 and would bring an offensive background . But Babers is in the Satterfield position of being on the hot seat.
College football picks, schedule: Championship Weekend
Burnham's 1943 squad went 9–0 and shared the Big Ten Conference title with Michigan. The 1943 squad was the only undefeated team playing a full schedule in major college football, but finished third in the country per the AP Poll. This would seemingly be sufficient grounds for Purdue to claim a 1943 National Championship as the NCAA itself did not recognize champions in the era. Cecil Isbell started out at Purdue as an assistant coach and took over as head coach in 1944. He was the first Purdue alumnus to become the head football coach. On December 5, 2012, it was announced that Darrell Hazell would leave the Kent State Golden Flashes to become the head coach of the Boilermakers.

Of those, four are Indiana Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles and eight are Big Ten Conference titles. As members of the Indiana Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Big Ten, the Boilermakers have amassed a record of 154–64–3 (.703 winning percentage) in conference play. Faculty and staff who will be on campus for business purposes on these Saturdays when the remainder of home games are scheduled and the evenings before are encouraged to seek alternate parking to avoid paying event rates. Individuals working departmental events for Homecoming, held on Sept. 24 this year, should plan ahead accordingly. Wood Street Parking Garage and a number of parking lots and street locations have relaxed evening and weekend parking. If the expected result goes down this weekend, the Rose Bowl has a couple of high-profile options to take the field in Pasadena.
It featured a white jersey with two outer black stripes on the shoulder and one inner gold stripe. The team wore gold pants with two black stripes on the sides, and the helmets were old gold with black numbers and one black stripe down the middle. He’s adapted well to the transfer portal, notably getting QB Bailey Zappe last year and QBAustin Reedthis year . He’s shown an ability to adjust and make major schematic changes and still win. He’s in 10 seasons in Raleigh, which is a long time in one place for any coach, and he’s shown interest in a number of jobs in the past.
The old gold uniforms had white numerals and black outline for home games, and white uniforms with old gold numbers and back outline for away games. Some complained that the numerals on the jersey were too hard to see, so in 2003 they changed to an old gold jersey with black numerals outlined in white, and white pants with two black stripes down the sides. After losing their opening game at home to Bowling Green, Tiller and the team decided to dump the gold jerseys and go back to the black uniforms.

After another round of #BrohmWatch, Coach Jeff Brohm is leaving Purdue to return home as the head coach of Louisville. This leaves Purdue with a spot to fill for its upcoming Citrus Bowl matchup with LSU. On the shoulder is the player's number in old gold, and on the sleeve, there is an old gold stripe at the bottom. The pants are old gold with one black stripe along each side, with the Purdue train logo right above it. The helmet is old gold with a black stripe down the middle, a black facemask, and a black slanted "P" logo on each side. The shoulders have black numerals on them, and the sleeve has a black stripe at the bottom. Both home and away jerseys sport the Purdue train logo in the center front of the collar, surrounded by a patch of black fabric. The away pants are black one old gold stripe on each side as well as the Purdue train logo.
